Senior Advisor

Stephen Morel is a development finance professional with over 15 years of management experience in project and corporate finance. Mr. Morel has extensive experience in complex transactions and corporate structuring, financial operations and management, project development, transaction negotiation, debt and equity placements, and restructurings.  

During his nearly 10-year tenure at the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (formally OPIC, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation), Mr. Morel served as the transactional team leader on over $2 billion of development projects utilizing financial structures to mitigate risks, including guarantees, risk-share agreements, and other arrangements. He led opportunities through the lifecycle of business development, origination, management approval, and closing the transactions, with a special focus on solar PV, wind, and geothermal energy projects.

Mr. Morel has also served as an Energy Specialist for the Global Climate Finance Facility, leading a team through hundreds of millions of dollars of renewable energy transactions. He has been an instructor of project finance at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). 

He has a B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University.
